| Democrats "Truth" Campaign | Tuesday | 2003.07.22 Politics |
So, the Democrats have a new (weak) ad campaign. You can view the TV commercial at their Truth site. I submitted my name and address to show my support with the following comment. I think it speaks for my thoughts on the spot.
1. Most people don't read; therefore, this advertisement's message did not
reach those who need it most
2. Television is an audio-video medium; sound and pictures. This ad only
used the visual half of the medium; the only time audio was used was to
broadcast the President's message
Lessons learned:
- Read text to people
- Don't distract people with useless typing noises
- Use the capabilities of a video screen to elucidate your point (i.e. use
moving pictures rather than printed text on TV)
- Keep in mind your target audience; I'll give you a hint, it's not
educated, literate people who read the newspaper.
When the Democratic party manages to shape up its ideas and its
presentation of those ideas, maybe the liberal viewpoint will have a
chance against the Republican publicity machine.
