So, yeah, I'm alive. I haven't post here in a while, though.
Stuff that's been going on:
- I have a shiny new Opteron processor in my desktop. The old dual Celeron 400 thing worked fine, but was really starting to feel tired. I'm only running the Opteron in 32 bit mode, but still - it's SPEEDY. I really like the improved responsiveness of everything. Plus, I can rebuild the entire site in just a few seconds, rather than about 20.
- Related to obtaining the Opteron, I have taken some interest in the AMD64 port of Debian. I've always been keeping an eye out for some way I could contribute to the wonderful distribution that is Debian and I may have found my niche. I haven't done much except talk and host a poll, but perhaps I'll contribute to the building of 64 bit packages. I'm also very interested in getting Debian's multiarch system working.
- I'll be taking a lot of time off from work in the next month or so. For the week of 21 June, I'm going to head up to Voorheesville and help my parents finish up some construction on the house. You can see early pictures of the construction in the gallery, but it's much, much further along now. My parents have moved into their new bedroom and the shop is all but complete, but my dad's got a lot of built in furniture to make (like their closets, a bathroom vanity, shelving and some other stuff I'm forgetting). This is all in preparation for our upcoming wedding in October.
- Speaking of weddings, our date and location has officially been set! Jenny and I are to be wed 9 October 2004 in Voorheesville, in my back yard! We'll be sending out invites rather soon. The weekend after the week I'm up helping construct, Jenny and her mother are going to join us and we're going to choose a caterer and florist. Progress.
- Not too long after the week up in NY, I'll be heading down to the sunny island of Hatteras off the North Carolina coast. Jenny and I, along with quite a few friends, have rented a house that's right on the beach. Most people are "part-timers," but Jenny and I are going for the gold - the entire Fourth of July week! (awesome!)
